Apollo belvedere

 

 

 

 

The Apollo is now thought to be a Roman copy of Hadrianic date (ca. 120–140) 

of a lost bronze original made between 350 and 325 BC by the Greek sculptor Leochares

 

 

 

 

바티칸에는 조각이 그야말로 널려있기 때문에

2층 회랑, 별다른 과장없이 서있는 이 조각상에 주의하게 되기는 힘들다.

 

무더운 여름,

스쳐 지나가던 나는 뭔가가 잡아 당기는 것 같은 느낌으로 돌아보았다

 

 

이 남자가 서 있었다. 

내 키높이에서 볼 수 있었던 것은 발 뿐이었는데 - 가죽 스트링 샌들을 신은 완벽한 발 

'완벽한' 발, 완벽한 샌들, 나는 놀라서 위를 올려다 보았다. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

멈추어서 보고, 한 걸음 옆으로 서서 보고, 다시 보고, 또 보았다

 

 

이 조각의 아름다움이 한동안 나를 사로잡았다

 

 

 

 

몇 년이 지난 후 괴테의 아폴로 벨베데레에 대한 경탄을 알게 되었고, 혹시 내가 만난 그 아폴로?
